About
The voice over industry’s need for teens and kids is growing almost as fast as kids do!
Why? Because the number of animated features, commercials, cartoons, promos, audio
books… are also expanding!
So it's a field your child can grow with. With proper training and business guidance, they'll
learn the skills required to get work now. And as their voices change, kids will find new
voice over genres open to them.
We know this first-hand, because Edge Studio is also one of the country's premier voice
production facilities. We record many kid voice over productions, and we hire our students!

Noelle Romano
Voice Coach, Director, Producer, and Animation Expert
As a voice coach, you will never hear me say the words “you’re not getting it”. I consider it my mission to try different approaches, techniques, and exercises until something clicks. My coaching style involves a lot of dialogue between teacher and student, and I like to use my sense of humor to keep things light and fun, even as I challenge you to go further than you thought possible.
When it comes to animation, cartoons, children's e-learning, and video games, I am very grateful to have had experience on both sides of the window. On the production side, I served as voice director and talent supervisor for the Emmy Award-winning PBS cartoon, "WordWorld". I’ve also voice directed various games and toys for The Backyardigans, Go, Diego, Go!, Dora the Explorer, as well as numerous children’s audio books for Scholastic. As Head of the VO Department at Animation Collective, I oversaw the records and casting of nine shows produced for Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Cartoon Network, and AOL kids. My TV production career started on the show "Blue's Clues", where I won my very first VO role—that of a talking mailbox!
As talent, I have narrated projects for Blackberry, Cincinnati Bell, Harrah’s, Hilton, Taximagic, Petflow, WatchDox, Twilio, Green Nissan, Slendertone and Howcast.com among others. For more than three years, I have been the main voice of the award-winning Kognito Interactive, which creates web-based e-learning simulations for various clients including Starwood Hotels, Rutgers, CUNY, Baruch, Fuji Film and the Veteran’s Association of NY/NJ.
I graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, and also trained in improv through Second City. As a live performer, I have four years of stand-up, and eight years of sketch comedy under my belt. I moved to the City of Angels in 2010, and have had a great time heading up Edge Studio’s LA studio!
Kristin Price
Voice Coach and Marketing Expert
Kristin hit the stage running in her first dance recital at the age of four… then spotted the audience and ran right back off. Much to everyone's surprise, she jumped back on a few years later, and hasn’t left since.
As a voice coach, she loves figuring out how to make you shine, no matter what your background is. Can a musical theater pro accustomed to projecting to the back of a theater successfully “tone it down” enough for voiceover? Can an accountant set his numbers aside and learn to play with words? Do you need to approach scripts as an actor? Do you need a technical checklist? Do you just need permission to let loose and have a ball? What is your comfort zone… and can you surprise yourself by pushing outside of that? Everyone has a different style of learning. The most important thing is to enjoy what you’re doing.
Her philosophy of working with kids is the same. Over five years of teaching youth acting, dance and musical theater classes for The Willows Theater and the Marin Theater Company in the San Francisco Bay Area, she learned that the most important thing is to find the child’s natural strengths and build from there in a positive and encouraging environment.
As a voice actor, Kristin keeps busy recording commercial and narration voiceovers at her home studio and at production facilities around New York City (including Edge Studio!). The occasional on-camera commercial sneaks into the schedule as well. Recent VO work includes narrations for Disney, Crisco, Nikon, GE, Doubletree, Swarovski Crystals, H&R Block, Office Depot, Crest Spinbrush, the U.S. Army, Yale University, and lots of corporate training and e-learning programs; the videogames “Silent Hill: Downpour”, “Puzzle Chronicles” and “Enigmatis”; and commercials for Vitamin Shoppe, Ortega Tacos, Vertex, Alfred Angelo wedding gowns, Hannaford grocery stores, Paradise Bakery, Kaboom! and Peter Piper Pizza.
Most of all, she is proud to have recorded a series of children's audiobooks for MitSo Media which received the highest award possible: a room full of pre-schoolers sat absolutely still and listened!
Our Teens & Kids Voice Over Program Teaches Parents, Too:
Parents probably have questions, such as:
- Does your child have the potential?
- Are your child's special qualities marketable?
- How does he or she get started?
- How does a youngster gain the required experience?
- If your child already has acting experience, what does he or she yet need to learn?
We’ll work with you, your schedule, and your resources to provide the most for your child.
But Teens & Kids Voice Over is more than just voice over training:
The skills and habits we teach your child in voiceover will also be invaluable throughout life. Voice over gives kids and teens the ability to explore their passion in this fun field, while learning one of the most essential personal abilities -- how to communicate effectively in a variety of ways.
- How to overcome shyness or stage fright
- How to read better (as they appreciate the value and meaning of words)
- How to write better (as they learn to "break down" scripts to analyze them)
- How to speak clearly and confidently in public
- How to think "outside the box"
- How a business works
- How to be businesslike and responsible, yet still act (and act) like a kid
- And much more
What you, the parent should know:
If your child is already an actor, VO provides a lot more work opportunities for them. In fact, there is significantly more voice acting work than there is stage and film work. And for you, it's another way to supplement the college fund.
At Edge Kids, "play" is the thing. Success in VO requires aptitude, guidance and practice, but we'd hardly call it "work." Our coaches are experienced at working with kids, and our program presents each challenge in a way that makes it all truly fun.
And through our association with Actors Technique New York, one of New York City's top acting schools for kids & teens, coaches for training in television, film and stage, guidance by top casting directors, practice in audition technique, private coaching, and more are available enhance learning, networking and a sense of purpose and community that your child will enjoy.

Private Training
We offer private training, because -- as with everything else in life, at any experience level -- there's always more to learn.
We encourage all kids to participate in group sessions, because (just as adults do) they will learn by observing others … things like how many ways there are to interpret a script, the nature of performing in front of others, confidence-building, teamwork and more.
But private training can also be helpful in situations such as these:
- The child learns one-to-one based on individual needs
- Focus on child’s most marketable genres
- Character and accent acquisition (or reduction!)
- The child already has experience
- Brush up
To discuss Private Training, call Edge Studio at 888-321-3343 (EDGE) and ask for Edge Kids and Teens.
Demo Production
After training, your child will be practiced as a voice over performer.
All that remains is to demonstrate that ability to prospective clients. A demo helps you open many more doors, and some agents won't represent a child for VO without it.
To get your child work, the demo must be made to contemporary standards, with professional production quality. And just as important, it must (a) demonstrate your child's true capabilities and (b) focus on your child's particular strengths.
We are totally current with demo standards and practices, because Edge Studio is both a teaching and a production facility. We've produced many hundreds of cartoons, talking toys, video games, kids’ commercials, educational programs. We’ve also produced hundreds of demos, and receive unsolicited demos every day. We understand how to develop and assemble content to give your child's demo:
- personal focus
- proper pacing
- original content
- a professional sound
- other essential qualities
So producing a demo is something to seriously consider. Or, if your child already has one, he or she may need to update or improve it, because kids' voices change more rapidly than adults' voices do.
To discuss Demo Production and various options, call Edge Studio at 888-321-3343 (EDGE) and ask for Edge Kids and Teens.
