The Education Office Team

We live and breathe voice over. And we’re always glad to share our knowledge, answer any questions, and take time with you.

Interestingly, most of us in the office are also voice over actors. So we know the industry from performance, studio, casting, and admin perspectives. This lets us see trends and shed interesting viewpoints on the industry.

Recognized as one of the world's leading directors and authorities on voice over, he says, “Although I never had the voice for it, I guess my ears work pretty well.”

Evidently so. David's ears are considered the best in the industry, and he is one of the country's most active voice-over producers, instructors, and speakers. Since founding Edge Studio in 1988, he has directed thousands of voice over productions nationally and internationally.

His background is unique:
He began his career producing, directing and engineering music artists ranging from Mel Torme, John Mayer, Deep Purple, and Jose Feliciano. Not long after, the studio became voice over by day, music at night. At the request of his professional voice over clients, he began offering voice over training sessions in 1991, and in 1992 wrote the first edition of the copyrighted “Voice Over Technique Guidebook”.

In 2000, he transformed Edge Studio to produce, cast, and train exclusively the spoken voice.

Voice talent rely on David's ability to help them find their full potential – they benefit from his personal perception, straight-forwardness, detailed production savvy, and acute ear. Clients and agents also rely on his ability to pinpoint the right voice talent for their production.

He has directed and engineered for renowned clients such as Cosmopolitan, Nickelodeon, AOL, Duracell, Disney, Gatorade, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Special Olympics, Celebrity Cruise Lines, Gillette, Fila, Pixar, Prudential, DaimlerChrysler, The United Nations, Lucent Technology, GE Corporation, Pitney Bowes, IBM, The US Postal Service, Scholastic, The U.S. Army, Microsoft, Earthlink, and many others.

He has trained media personalities from National Public Radio, Associated Press, ESPN, Discovery, Lifetime, and countless radio stations including CBS and Bloomberg Radio.

Celebrity talent produced at Edge Studio include Mel Brooks, Joan Rivers, Phil Donahue, Kate Jackson, Eartha Kitt, Tom Brokaw, John Ratzenberger, Method Man, Geoffrey Holder, Denise Austin, Mark Linn-Baker, Lisa Loeb, Robert Vaughn, BD Wong, Melissa Joan Hart, Mason Adams, more than 35 leading actors from Broadway, and more than 40 leading television actors.

He has worked on TV shows including Style Network's reality show “Clean House”, he has coached star Michael Schulson in Style Network's “Pantry Raid”, star Jason Cameron in TLC's “While You Were Out”, star Lisa Loeb in E Channel's “#1 Single”, PBS's “POV program”, a team of directors and copywriters for USA network, and stars Angeline Hartman and Tom Morris in “America’s Most Wanted.”

Edge Studio remains one of the country's most acclaimed voice over facilities, offering voice over production, casting, and education.

Sara is originally from Tallahassee and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in English Language and Literature. As a Program Director at a Colorado radio station, she hosted a daily air shift, and at times lent a helping hand to every department... producing commercials, writing copy, and engineering. Yes, she has been to the mountaintop and seen a radio transmitter site.

In addition to overseeing operations at Edge Studio, she is a terrific speaker, voice talent, and part-time DJ on SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio.

Morgan Paradis came to New York from Winnipeg, Canada, where she was a full time Anthropology student, a co-owner of a vegan restaurant, and a guitarist and vocalist in up to three bands at the same time! Strangely enough, life has slowed down a little bit since moving to the big city. Morgan is very excited to be using her small business experience as a part of the Edge Studio crew.

Morgan's recording and performing experience is on the musical side of things. She has recorded several times with her music projects, and all of those sessions have been released on old fashioned vinyl records; she's also a vinyl collector. She's done quite a bit of touring in support of her music releases and loves being on the road.

Morgan's plans for the future in New York include staying busy at Edge, writing and performing with her husband in their guitar and drum duo, and only getting a little bit lost on the subway.

David Guzzone is one of the few in the voice-over industry who is recognized for working on “both sides of the glass.”

As a voice actor (microphone side of the glass) and on-camera actor, his credits include Honda, Taco Bell, CSI:NY, Volvo, Charmed, Power Bar, General Hospital, McDonalds and, his most challenging role to date, the voice of a heating and air conditioning unit for Philadelphia Electric Company. It was a stretch because David is more readily cast as a refrigerator or toaster.

As a voice-over producer (director’s side of the glass), and working side by side with sound engineers, David has gained vast experience giving him a complete picture of the industry.

And as a voice over casting director (the third side of the glass, otherwise known as the EDGE) for commercial, narration, and video game projects, David has worked with hundreds of talent and is responsible for distinguishing between the rare great audition and the average audition that is most commonly delivered.

Put all this together, and as a coach, he is able to impart these experiences to aspiring voice over artists.

Regarding the personal side of David, he’s a native New Yorker and has worked in the entertainment industry for 15 years in NYC and LA.
