DISCOVER IF VOICE OVER IS FOR YOU

The Investigate Voice Over Workshop

An exciting 4-hour, $159 workshop that candidly assesses the marketability of your voice and talent, pinpoints your most marketable genres (audiobook, animation, commercial, documentary, etc. ), and provides an in-depth understanding of the skills required to be successful. See details below.

People who skip Phase 1 either never make it, or are less successful, because they never knew their most marketable genres.

What if?

  • If you show potential, and realize that voice over is for you, we then welcome you to train and begin your career.

We'll provide honest, straightforward feedback and help you create a game-plan.

And you can apply the fee to demo recording in the Phase 2 Demo Program, making your evaluation free!*

  • If you do not show potential, then you have wasted little time and money. We discourage those without potential from continuing. We are polite but candid.

MEET YOUR EVALUATORS

Your instructor Kristin PriceKristin Price

Kristin hit the stage running in her first dance recital at the age of four. She then spotted the audience and ran right back off. Much to everyone's surprise, she jumped back on a few years later... and hasn't left since.

In addition to acting and singing in New York and around the country, Kristin keeps busy recording voiceovers at Edge... at her home studio... and at production facilities around the city. An occasional on-camera gig sneaks into the schedule as well. Commercial and Narration voiceover clients include Office Depot, PeoplePC, Crest Spinbrush, Comet, Liberty Travel, Rallye Motors, Windstream Media, the U.S. Army, Yale University, and bunches of corporate and e-learning projects. She is proud to have recorded a series of children's audiobooks for MitSo Media which received the highest award possible: a room full of pre-schoolers sat absolutely still and listened!

Over the past ten years Kristin has taught classes in voiceover, dance, musical theater, and acting to kids, teens and adults. She is a founding member of the off-off-Broadway company HonkBark! Productions.

David Thank you for your time last night.... I found your insight into the business and technique of voiceovers to be interesting and to the point....you gave me many ideas to focus my foray into the business.... and your points about the actual reading of scripts showed your obvious experience and talent in your field.... you had a bunch rank beginners improve each read they did.... I thank you and look forward to the one hour coaching session next week.... Best regards
Joe Morris
Cathy, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the [Investigate Voice Over] class, which was held by Kristin Price. She made the whole experience not only informative but very enjoyable

David: Thank you for making Edge Studio available to people like myself at the beginning of their decision-making process in relation to a voice over career. My wife informed me that she was aware that you would be advising me to bring down the loud aspect....and another friend advised me that I had to dispense with my Pennsy accent....to which I informed her that I had no such accent...wow.. I guess people hear a speaker better than the speaker at times.... At this point, I will be following...

Recently I had the opportunity to participate in Edge Studio's Investigate Voice Over Workshop. I was concerned that after working and then coming to a four hour class that I would not be able to focus. However, I need not have been concerned - time flew. Information shared and the practicing of different techniques when reading copy made the class so interesting. I left with the confidence to pursue a voice-over career with a new zeal. If you're considering taking the class - do it - you...

David, Before attending the Investigate Voice Over Workshop, I had never participated in any type of workshop at all. To be honest, I half expected it to be an "old bait and switch" hustle. I went in with my defenses up. But only minutes into the class I realized that I had completely misjudged. David provides an honest and clear workshop. In three and a half hours David surveyed: the voice over industry, creative techniques, business techniques, and to close, offered a practical voice over...

This is the best.

For years, people have complemented my voice. After I decided to explore the Voice Over field I chose to attend the Investigate Voice Over workshop offered at Edge Studio. Before I invested a lot of time and money, I wanted to know if this field was right for me and if I had enough talent to be successful. The small class size fostered a friendly supportive atmosphere which put everyone at ease, and the class was very informative, but what I found most helpful was the honest yet...

Nice job on the workshop. I definitely got my money's worth. Thanks. Regards,
Mark Schafron
The workshop is a first hand look into the world of voice overs. It's packed full of very useful information to help you pursue a career as a voice over artist. David adds a lot of personal experience to the mix, giving the workshop a real-world, no-nonsense approach to the industry. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone interested in doing voice-overs."
Chris Swee - New York, NY
Hi David, Thank you for conducting a fantastic workshop. I am in the process of making a decision about one of Edge Studio' packages. The development of my CD graphics is not quite ready. I will send it to you for your review and comments as soon as it's ready. Thanks for agreeing to do this! And also thanks so much for your honest and sincere comments during my evaluation. I'll correspond with you real soon.
Sheila
As an actor who's often been encouraged to pursue voice-over, but is unsure of its requirements and techniques, I found Edge Studio's Investigate Voice Over workshop perfectly suited to my needs. Foremost, was the workshop's focus on evaluation. I've heard voice-over is a specialized, competitive market, and naturally wouldn't want to invest my time, energy and money in pursuing a field I wasn't right for. The fact that the workshop ends with an in-depth evaluation segment, and that David sits...

Good morning David- Just wanted to thank you so much for your time and dedication in the workshop last night. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Thought you did a terrific job of moving things along while also covering a lot of ground and giving everyone ample opportunity to practice/perform. I will definitely recommend you to colleagues interested in exploring this business. I'm very motivated and determined to "go for it" and will absolutely be signing up for the individual training...

Edge's Investigate Voice Over Workshop was the most informative and straight forward workshop. It offered the best advice for anyone wanting to get in to the voice over industry.. Our teacher not only offered a supportive environment but was genuine in wanting us to do well. I have taken other voice over workshops in the past and this one was superior.. Thanks again. Rgds,

This Investigate Voice Over program was a great learning experience. You can always pick up new ideas to help you towards getting into the business. From everyone from the receptionists, to the coaches, everyone is fabulous. They were a great help. I'm looking forward to my session on Monday. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone that asks.
David, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the Investigate Voice Over Workshop I attended on March 24th. It was an exciting experience and I can't believe I learned so much about the Voice Over business in such a short period of time. David...your skills are incredible and you made the workshop the best four hours I've spent in my life... next to being with my lovely wife of course. Thanks again and I look forward to attending a few coaching sessions and then I would love to have YOU do my...

Hello David, Thank you once again for providing such and informative and insightful workshop last night. I really enjoyed the statistics on the industry and your input on my strengths and weaknesses as a VO artist. I feel it was well worth the investment of both time and money. Thanks again for the great workshop. I look forward to working with you again soon! Sincerely,
Jake
David Goldberg and Edge Studio are the best I've experienced! I was introduced to David and the studio at Actorfest 2002 in New York. There were representatives from many Voice-over classes, production studios, etc. I went to 5 free classes and 3 that I paid for (all in New York.) I left many of them wondering why I bothered attending... Edge was the most informative and straight forward. The "Intensive-" workshop brought to light everyone's strengths and/or weaknesses privately. We all left...

I appreciated David's straightforward presentation of the voiceover industry and his knowledge of where the opportunities lie for most newcomers. The most helpful part of the workshop, however, came when he critiqued the readings of the participants. In a short amount of time, he identified the areas I need to work on in order to present that "natural" sound most producers are looking for. Rather than simply waiting for my evaluation, I now have some specific techniques to practice.
Don Burgard
David, Thank you so much for conducting such a great class. I was so impressed and very informed on the subject of voice over. I had a great time and I am looking forward to working with you and your staff in the future....(hopefully). Thanks again. It was well worth the small fee!! Sincerely,
Tina Auston
After hearing excerpts from a friend's lesson with David Goldberg, I knew that he was someone I wanted to meet and learn from, so I signed up for the Investigate Voice Over Workshop. It was exactly what I needed, an introduction to the business; a technique overview; and an honest evaluation, enabling me to focus my pursuit. David's advice was frank and informative yet delivered with warmth and respect. I appreciate his support and encouragement which has turned my inquiry into a possibility!...
David It was raining, we were stuck in traffic, I was tired and thinking, why did I sign up for his class? It was great! very informative and creative. Time flew by. I am definitely considering going further with this business. thank you for doing such a great presentation
Barbara Hageney
I thought the workshop was fantastic. The four hours flew by and I am really glad that I finally decided to explore voice-overs since I've wanted to for so long. I've taken other intro classes, but this was by far, the most informative and comprehensive class. I recommend it to all those who ever considered doing voice-over.
Annie Rietschel
Hi David, Thanks for the very valuable information. I enjoyed class on the 11th. I really thought you were very professional and informative. I look forward to working with you again very soon. Thanks

Hello David, Just a quick note to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the Investigate Voice Over Workshop I attended in Washington, DC on April 22nd. What a wealth of information - and worth every penny! I am VERY excited about beginning a career in voiceovers and working w/Edge Studio in the future. Thank you! :>)

Dear David: I wanted to tell you in writing how much I enjoyed, appreciated and learned in your workshop on June 20the in D.C. You are a terrific teacher...take that from one who trained teachers for several years at the college level. I am practicing and will call in soon to schedule a time for reading audio books. Thank you again for your time and energy to make my experience so profitable!
John W. Williams Professor of Music
David was my instructor and he was really fantastic. I have done a lot of teaching and he has all of the characteristics of an excellent teacher - he listens, he includes everyone, he keeps the class moving, he gives constructive feedback in a frank yet encouraging way. Even if I never do anything in voice over, I am glad I took the class because I enjoyed the experience itself and I learned a lot about an industry that I have always been curious about.
Ruby Sheets
Dear Randye, Thank you for your time yesterday afternoon in the workshop. It was truly amazing listening to you and practicing some of the techniques we discussed. You are a terrific coach and I felt more and more comfortable as time went on. Sincerely,
Madelaine
A great opportunity to learn the basics of the business and assess your potential ... and a lot of fun too. Evaluations are frank and honest, while always being constructive and supportive.
Tim Zagin
I really enjoyed the statistics on the industry and your input on my strengths and weaknesses as a voice over artist. I feel it was well worth the investment of both time and money. Thanks again for the great workshop. I look forward to working with you again soon! Sincerely

Dave, I want to thank you for a great class. I've been complimented on the uniqueness of my voice and told that I should do something with it. I searched the internet and kept coming across Edge Studio, because of that , I decided to go for it . Taking voice classes has been an interest of mine for a couple of years. I really didn't know what to expect as I walked into the studio. As I met the people that were going to be involved in this experience, I was elated. You were totally professional...
Kassim Newark, N.J.
Dear David, Thank you for your honesty, really! I left the workshop feeling excited and enlightened. I now anticipate improving my skills and exploring the world of voicing. I only wish the workshop had lasted longer. To this end, I would like to start training. I will contact the studio to discuss phone coaching sessions arrangements. Thanks again. Best,
Melanie
David- Just wanted to thank you for a great class yesterday. I feel like I have a better sense of the industry as well as my strengths/weaknesses. I definitely plan to continue training. I appreciate your honesty in the evaluation. Best,
Dave O'Neill
Hi. I recently took the Investigate Voice Over Workshop and came away with incredible hands-on techniques to practice on my own. The instructor really listened and offered honest and productive advice. Thanks for offering such great classes and helping me get more voice over work!
Sally K. Eisenberg
The "Intensive Technique Workshop" gives a good overview of the range of opportunities in the voice-over field. As it packs alot of useful information into one session, I recommend buying the workbook in advance and skimming over it before the first session, if you're confident that this is something you really want to pursue. If you're less certain, go and enjoy the session, and buy the book later if you like. David knows this business well, and you can count on him to give you a clear and...

David, Thank you so much your wonderful intensive voice-over class! In one day's time you've helped me "hear" my voice. My airline announcements have improved so much, that daily, passengers compliment me on my voice and my "professional sounding" announcements. Thank You,
Ramie Miller
The class was very helpful! It was comfortable and informative. I'm really excited to continue on!
Dear David, Just wanted to thank you again for the workshop, it was wonderful after hearing such different stories from other sources to have someone be straightforward and honest about the business. I'll be in touch, thanks again and hope all is well! Best,
Abby
I want to thank you for the informative and interesting workshop yesterday. I attended the Investigate Voice Over Workshop, and found it to be different from what I expected. I thought it might have included a pretentious expert who desired to put aspiring talent in its place. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The session was laid back, and we were put at ease immediately. Thank you. I feel so much more focused in the pursuit of my dream to become a working voice over artist!
I would *HIGHLY* recommend this intense class for anyone remotely interested in voice over. For what you get, its incredibly cheap, and David is a great teacher. He's extremely knowledgable and open, funny, patient, and keenly sensitive to each student's particular needs. He then turns into a hard-faced Torquemada for your evaluation and gives it to you straight. No matter what he tells you, its worth it just to get into the recording booth
David... I will never be able to thank you enough for all the time you have given me. I so appreciate all of your advice and expertice. Thank you so much...
Jasen
I had a great time at the workshop at Edge. The tips, tricks and techniques delivered were well worth the time and money. The studio was easy to find, comfortable and the staff was very welcoming. After just a few hours I went into the booth feeling confident and ready to go. I can't wait for my part-2 evaluation. See you next week
I took the April Edge Studio voiceover workshop in Washington, D.C. and bought the Industry Guidebook. Earlier this week, I was booked on a voiceover job for a government audio course. I reviewed a number of the principles in the guidebook before going to the job. I just want to say THANK YOU. The guidebook was very helpful. It helped me take the right approach to the job and to perform consistently. One of the producers and the talent I was working with complimented my work after we finished....

This was a great starting point for my career. I'm thankful that David was so helpful and honest with me. I know with hard work and determination I will break into this business, but another crucial thing I need is the industry know-how and connections that Edge has in voice-over. This is the best place to train.
Evelyn Ciampa
Dear Randye, Thank you very much for having me of a part of your class in the Investigate Voice Over Workshop on Saturday. I found the workshop to be such a wonderful and informative experience regarding the voice over industry and wanted to thank you personally. Because of your expertise and outstanding, personable teaching techniques, I feel confident in pursuing a voice over career. Thanks again. Sincerely,
Kathy Mandrick Voice Over Student
I took previous classes in voice over. I found i learnt more in the four hour intensive then i did in all my other classes. I also learnt what my strengths are, and found my previous studies were totally in the wrong area of where i would fit in the voice over industry.
Andi Mancuso
Randye, Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed the class on Saturday and wanted to thank you for your honest evaluation. I was looking for a second opinion and now I need to decide next steps. You have a great voice and persona so I can see why you are so successful in the industry! Hopefully we will cross paths again in the future.
Lynne
I truly enjoyed the Intensive Technique Workshop. David, your teaching style made the workshop not only informative but fun. I found it very beneficial and participating in a class-like setting via phone was as well, as my fellow participants provided their feedback to our training. I feel that I now have a better understanding of what is available to a person pursuing a career in Voice Over. I look forward to my next step in the process, which is my private evaluation. Thanks again!!
Laura Aguilar
Hello, Thank you very much for accepting my application and providing me with the opportunity to learn about the voice over industry from an expert, David Goldberg. I was impressed with David's warmth and humor, as well as his professionalism and willingness of taking personal time to share his expertise with the group and me this afternoon. I look forward to returning on Wednesday to meet with Bruce Bayley Johnson and am grateful toward you for this remarkable introduction to the business...
Jeff Kain
David The workshop on Tuesday was great, very relaxed, very informative, not to mention fun. Also the time flew by. I'm really interested in getting into voice overs now that I've been to your workshop and was wondering what package you might suggest. Thank you
Miles
I would recommend this class to anyone considering voice-over. The class moves fast and is very informative. Dave has a straight-forward teaching style and in the end, you will know whether or not to pursue voice over.

CLASS OUTLINE

Included materials

  • The Technique Guidebook (PDF version)
  • 3,500 categorized practice scripts

1. Begin with a realistic scope of the industry

  • Explore opportunities: audiobook, narration, promo, cartoon, commercial, eLearning,...
    • Begin assessing where you may fit in
  • Break down some misconceptions:
    • Gain realistic salary expectations (most don't make millions like others claim)
    • There is MUCH more opportunity other than commercial work
    • Being a "Jack of all trades" is usually NOT the way to get more work
  • Discuss the 3 keys to success
    • Trust your voice, read without tension, do what comes naturally.

2. Continue reading/recording from 21 types of scripts

  • Learn core foundation technique
    • The basics of every voice over job you'll narrate
  • Read/record various genres: Audiobook, documentary, commercial, cartoon,...
    • The best way to get your feet wet is to jump in
  • Receive honest critique
    • And try again. Our goal is to hear your improve.
  • Watch (and listen) as your instructor homes in on your most marketable niches
    • Some people perform well in only one niche. Other people do well in many.

3. Your take-away: answers and coupons

After the workshop, we complete your evaluation report by answering 3 questions:

  • Is your voice marketable?
    • Where are you more competitive? audiobook? documentary? commercial? cartoon?
  • Do you have talent?
    • A great voice doesn't mean you can sing. Likewise with voice over.
  • Can you make money at this?
    • If YES, we'll recommend next steps
    • If NOT, we'll explain why

What to expect

After the workshop, you'll have a private assessment consultation to review your evaluation report. We'll also take time to answer any questions.

* You can credit the cost of the Investigate Voice Over Workshop ($159) to your Phase 2 Demo Program if you sign up within one week after completing it.
