Hallmark - The History of Mother's Day
We are Occland Creative Co., and are casting a voice for four 60-second informative spots on Mother's Day for the Lifetime TV Network. The four spots will air on rotation through the week leading up to the holiday, with facts about the holiday and its history. We are accepting auditions using the script below. This is first half of one of the spots. WE HAVE NO STYLE IN MIND other than something unique! We do NOT want the typical happy, informative read. Rather we want something different, something that stands out... WE WANT TO HEAR HOW CREATIVE YOU CAN BE. It could be over-the-top announcerish, comedic, a character voice,... Make sure that your delivery will catch the interest of listeners. Dry voice only, and please slate your name. Thank you.
Contrary to popular belief, Mother's Day was not conceived and fine-tuned in the boardroom of Hallmark. The earliest tributes to mothers date back to the annual spring festival the Greeks dedicated to Rhea, the mother of many deities, and to the offerings ancient Romans made to their Great Mother of Gods, Cybele. Christians celebrated this festival on the fourth Sunday in Lent in honor of Mary, mother of Christ. In England this holiday was expanded to include all mothers and was called Mothering Sunday.
Remember to check Archived Contests next Friday to learn who won, with explanations of why they won and why others didn’t, and hear some examples of each.
